Impressionist painter, Anita Corby began her artistic endeavors in Berlin, Germany where she was born and raised. She graduated in 1969 from the commercial art institute ,Lettehaus. She began her career in the art world as a photographer. In 1972 she enjoyed employment as a graphic designer at the embroidery atelier of The Moritz company in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The beauty of the wilderness landscape of the American west is where she settled in 1978 and started to pursue her love of oil painting. Her colorful impressionistic paintings show a keen observation of the world around her. Her work has been exhibited and purchased locally and nationally, and is being created in her studio that is located in the scenic waterfront community of Des Moines, Washington. She has received numerous awards and a 40 foot mural that was designed by her and completed in 2008 can be visited at the Des Moines waterfront in the state of Washington. Talent is a word she does not use often. She believes that all of us have talent; it is only with hard work, intense study and a lot of passion that one will evolve into an accomplished artist, no matter what the medium.

Artist Statement:

“As an artist, I am on a quest to find the voice that is unique to me, like my fingerprint. With my art, I want to share life as it resonates within me. The world calls out to be seen, felt and heard. Through your eyes, let color into your everyday life and realize how beautiful the space is that we call our world” - Anita Corby
